On Guard

Eph. 6:12-18

On guard we must always be,

For Satan is a vicious foe;

But we have the means to defeat him,

It's in the armor God has bestowed.

First, our loins must be girt with Truth,

For the Truth of God's Word is pure;

Satan can't stand before it,

He will run, of this be assured!

The Breastplate of Righteousness is a must,

For It's His own Righteousness dear;

When we are thus rightly clothed,

His presence is very near.

Our feet must need be shod,

With the Gospel of His Peace,

For when our eyes are stayed on Him,

Our soul can find relief.

The Shield of Faith is the Word of God,

And to It we must firmly hold;

For it's only through His promises,

That we can be strong and bold.

On our heads is Salvation's Helmet

A sign that we have been freed;

Through it, our redemption has been assured,

Throughout all eternity.

We must always be in touch,

With out Great Commander above;

For He will guide without mistake,

And surround us with His love.

The victory was won on Calvary,

But onward still we must fight;

The daily battles can be our,

Through His great power and might!
