One by one the days fly by,
And your babies are all grown;
You look around at the emptiness,
And wish for the days that have flown.
The days when you bounced them on your knee,
And cuddled them in the dark;
The times together when you played,
And took them to the park.
Now a grown-up looks back at you,
Where once there was baby chub;
Is the intense deep mother's love.
